Sailing lessons at Camp Runoia, Belgrade Lakes, 1945

Contributed by Camp Runoia

Description

Campers and counselors watching the sailing lessons or a race on Great Pond from the float in 1945. One of the highlights in the summer of 1945 was the sailing race with the boys from Pine Island camp on July 28, 1945. The race was in honor of Dr. Swan's birthday (the owner of Pine Island camp). Mrs. Grant, Camp Runoia director at the time, invited him to stand on the camp's float to watch the race. Sailing remains a daily part of the camp's activities today.
