Description
Thomas Fowler, Jr. built this farm around 1850. The farm was subsequently occupied by his brother, John Fowler, and later by John Powers. Powers sold the property to the Great Northern Paper Company in connection with the paper mill construction in East Millinocket.
The farm was located just east of Schoodic Stream, with the Penobscot River to the left. Just visible in the background was the McCauslin Farm on the west side of the stream, which was the oldest farm in the region in 1905.
Most of the area pictured was flooded after construction of Dolby Dam by its impoundment, the Dolby Flowage. Before flooding some of the buildings were moved to the Rice Farm.
