Description

Bethel's hillside farms were the last to be settled and, largely because of the effects of the Civil War on the town's population, the first to be abandoned.

Established in the mid-1820s, the Farwell Farm stood on an elevated site above Middle Intervale village and was clearly going to ruin when this image was captured around 1895.
