Aunt Margie's place, Westport Island, ca. 1908

Contributed by Westport Island History Committee

Description

Verlie May (Colby) Greenleaf referred to this house at 386 Main Road on Westport Island as "Aunt Margie's Place." However, when she was very young, her Aunt Emily (Colby) Fowle (1838-1912) lived there; Emily was the sister of Harriet Colby -- "Aunt Margie's" mother.

The house later became known as the Amos Knight home. The ell on the right burned down in a fire in the 1930s.
