Description

This is an E. Joseph Leighton postcard of the roadway to the home of Solomon and Helena Higgins. The Higgins' home was also known as the Highland House, an inn that took in summer boarders. The Highland House was located with a view to the Sheepscot River at the north end of the island.

E. Joseph Leighton (1884-1957), a traveling photographer based primarily in Lincoln County, focused his lens on the everyday in early 20th century life which included the homes that hosted summer boarders.
