This is a view titled "Before the Launch" by F. H. Crockett, publisher of the stereo view. It has been identified as a view looking north at the shipyard owned by Isaiah A. Jones at the corner of Water Street and Ocean Street. The three-masted schooner, about to be launched, is the Sarah H. Bird, built by John A. McAllister in 1873, for David N. Bird.
