Description
The lithograph created after the Portland Fire of July 4, 1866, shows tents that the city provided as temporary shelter for people who lost their homes.
Black & Case took the photograph from which this print was made was taken on July 7, three days after the fire, which burned 1,800 buildings and left nearly 10,000 people homeless.
