Description

This tiny little red clay bean pot was used in the Jameson & Wotton store to measure out a scoop of Boston Baked Bean candy for a penny. These candy coated peanuts looked like little baked beans and were a popular confection made by NECCO, the New England Confectionary Co. The letters "OK" are inscribed on the front of the pot.

Larger bean pots were a mainstay of Maine kitchens, and homemade baked beans were a Saturday night tradition in many homes.
