KVVTI's Gilman Street Campus, 1978-1986

The Gilman Street School served as Kennebec Valley Community College's first independent campus. Prior to leasing this property, KVCC, or Kennebec Valley Vocational Technical Institute as it was known at the time, had to share space with the Waterville Regional Technical Center and the Waterville High School.

This arrangement dramatically limited the fledgling institute's enrollment and hours of operation. Development of the Gilman campus allowed the school to expand and establish a sense of community and identity.
