Description
Lt. John Sheahan, formerly of the 1st Maine Cavalry, was waiting in White House, Virginia, to join his new regiment, the 31st Maine Infantry. He had recently been commissioned as a 1st lieutenant.
He wrote to his father in Dennysville about Grant's army, the wounded coming in from battlefields, and the declining strength of the Confederate army.
