Rebecca Usher account of Abraham Lincoln visit, Virginia, ca. 1870

Contributed by Maine Historical Society

Description

Nurse Rebecca Usher of Hollis wrote an account of President Abraham Lincoln's visit with to a military hospital at City Point, Virginia, just before Richmond fell and Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered in 1865.

The account, written on ledger paper, is a single sheet and it is not clear whether it was part of a larger account. It appears to be a recollection.
