Woodworking shop, Biddeford, ca. 1900

Contributed by Biddeford Historical Society

Description

Local wood shops produced creels for textile spinning frames. The top and bottom creels held large spools of yarn. They were twisted together to form one thread, that entered the top role of the spinning frame, and spun around the bobbins, once the bobbins were filled.
