Description

Stephen Longfellow II, who had been Falmouth's first schoolmaster, built the farm in Gorham that was later occupied by his son, lawyer, legislator and Judge Stephen Longfellow III.

Judge Longfellow had hundreds of elms set out on his 500 acres in 1787. He was the grandfather of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
