What's New for Contributing Partners
Here's a quick overview of what's new on version 2.0 of the Maine Memory Network. All your old tools for adding, replacing, and cataloging items; and building exhibits are still here, but may appear differently or be renamed. If you have questions about how to use the new tools, please contact your Outreach Coordinator.
Home Page
The new Home Page will promote the Contributing Partners. It highlights one with a randomly generated banner that links to that Contributing Partner's items, as well as a list of recent contributions by other Contributing Partners, controlled by our webmaster.
Navigation
Once inside the site, the navigation appears on the left side of your screen. If you're logged in, you can hide your album with the Hide button in the album tools. This will give you more space on your screen to do your work. To show your album again, click on the myAlbum link at the top right of the screen.
Contributors Section
The Contributors section is the place where we highlight new contributions and show off the great work of the Contributing Partners. It's also the place for you to access all our support resources:
- Equipment Recommendations
- Scanning Standards
- Contribution Guidelines
- Selecting Items
- Procedures
- Manuals
- Help getting started
Contributor Tools
Login to the site, and you'll notice this is where we've made the most improvements. Now, all your tools will be accessible from any page, by using the pull-down menu that appears at the top right of your screen. Click on the "myAccount Tools" pulldown menu, or click on the myAccount link, to access the following tools:
User Information
- Personal Profile & Password (change your contact information or login password)
- myAlbums (view a list of all your albums)
Contributing Partner Tools (Tools for managing your content)
Item Management (Tools for managing your historic items)
- Add Items (Add an historic item)
- Online Items (View your items that are online and viewable by the public)
- Offline Items (view your offline, un-searchable, items)
- Cold Storage Items (View items you have added, but want stored away from your regular workspace)
For any of the above three tools, you can view your items either in a list or by thumbnails.
Coming soon will be a tool to view your items that are Pending Approval, waiting to be made public.
From any Item Detail Page, Search Results, Online Items, Offline Items, or Cold Storage, you can click Edit or Edit Record to access the cataloging record and make changes.
Reports
- Image Sales Report (before July 2005)
- Image Sales Report (after July 2005)
- Monthly Payments Report
These two reports show income generated from selling images on VintageMaineImages.com, as well as detailed information about which of your images has sold, income you should have received from MHS, and uses of your purchased images. Reminder: it is your choice to sell image reproductions or not, on an item-by-item basis.

Other New Features
Login
You can now login from any page by clicking login at the top of the screen. After logging in, you will be taken back to the page you were on previously.
You can now logout without having to quit your browser. Simply click on the Logout button at the top of your screen.
Search
Search and browse are faster.
You can see search terms that users are putting in our search box by going to Search > Recent Searches.
Details on how our search engine works can be found in Help > Search.
Editing Items
(Click on Edit or Edit Record beside or below an image you have contributed. You must be logged in to see this link.)
We've rebuild the way images are created for the site, automatically generating the low resolution derivatives when you add or replace items, instead of when they are requested by users. This will reduce the number of incorrect images or improperly loaded images. If you do see a problem with one of your images, you can go to the Edit Record page and click on Flush Derivatives below the thumbnail. This will remove all low resolution copies and replace them with new ones.
We welcome layout suggestions for this page. Please send suggestions to us in the Feedback Box at the bottom of every page.
Editing Albums
(Login, and click on Edit under myAlbum Tools on the right side of your screen).
All editing of albums (both adding text and re-ordering items) is now done on one page.
There is no longer a length restriction on album names.
You can change the Creator's name to be displayed when you view your finished album. The default name is your username.
You can re-order album items in one click. Follow the directions in the Help > myAlbum page.
Preview your album by clicking on Preview in the myAlbum Tools.
