Some men supported efforts to gain equal suffrage for women. The Men's Equal Suffrage League of Maine had among its objectives "to organize the sentiment for woman suffrage among the men of Maine..."
Two of the members listed are Ralph O. Brewster and Robert T. Whitehouse.
