Schoolhouse at Dixfield Common, ca. 1920

Contributed by Dixfield Historical Society

Description

This wooden structure schoolhouse was built in 1919 and replaced the brick schoolhouse that was lost to fire in 1906. Students from the Dixfield Common attended this school until it was discontinued in 1935. Students then attended the larger Dixfield Grammar/High School in the village. Delmer "Bud" Holman bought the building in 1936, and Terry Holman was born in it in 1937. It continues to be a part of Terry's residence in 2014.
