Denis E. Hudon and his furniture delivery truck, Ridlonville, ca. 1949

Contributed by Dixfield Historical Society

Description

Originally coming from Lewiston in 1942, Denis Hudon and his wife Jeanette opened a furniture store in Ridlonville (Mexico, ME) in 1946 and another in Dixfield in 1947. The Dixfield store was staffed by Jeanette and occupied the Hotel Stanley barn in the rear of the parking lot. In the 1950s both these stores closed, and the Hudons opened a larger store on Canal Street in Rumford. Denis drove this truck for deliveries and often to the Parker House in Boston to attend furniture shows and return with new merchandise.
