Description
Kiah B. Sewall, a native of Phippsburg, was living in New York while he was studying law and attempting to get out of debt.
His wife, Lucretia Day Sewall, lived in Portland with her parents, Ezekiel and Eunice Day Sewall, and with the young couple's daughter, Eunice, who was a little over a year old. Kiah had not yet seen his daughter.
He wrote about his health and commented on Lucretia's letter about weaning their daughter and the adjustment the change must be for the young girl.
The Sewalls married in May 1836 and young Eunice was born in August 1837.
