Description
Kiah B. Sewall wrote to his wife, Lucretia Day Sewall in Portland, about his imminent return to Maine. Following up on a letter he had written the previous day, he urged her to tell no one he was going to be in Maine.
Sewall wrote that he would go to Lovell "in search of a man" and then to Moosehead Lake.
He explained that his extreme secrecy, writing, "It extremely unpleasant to me to be in such a situation -- the fact is my paper is now laying over unpaid & it must so remain till I disperse of some of my land." Sewall was in debt from land speculation.
He also wrote briefly about the latest fashions.
