Description
Elise Fellows White, a violin prodigy from Skowhegan who studied in Boston and Vienna, made this recording of Paul Juon's "Berceuse" in New York on February 12, 1937.
White (1873-1953), along with two other young women musicians, made a performing tour across the northern U.S. and southern Canada in 1895-1896.
In 1898 she married Bruce White, a mine operator in British Columbia; they had met while she was on tour. The couple had two sons. Elise Fellows White returned to Skowhegan with her sons in 1907.
While she did not have a professional career, White continued to perform and made a recording of 12 pieces in 1937.
