Contributed by Dixfield Historical Society

Artist Ted Simanek created this print image for the Dixfield Historical Society around 2003. It depicts the J.J. Towle Jr. house, which was built in 1899 and purchased by the Dixfield Historical Society in 1999.

This old homestead houses the society's collections and the Charter Meeting Room. The barn is home to the John L. Towle Antique Tool Collection.

Ted Simanek is originally from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area and spent many summers at Webb Lake and Camp Kawanhee before moving permanently, with his wife Betty, to Weld, in 2001.
