Description
An early sawmill by the falls on the Carrabassett River in Kingfield, circa 1875.
Sumner and Charles W. French established a sawmill on the Carrabassett in the 1870s. Frequently damaged by fires and spring floods, it eventually continued production as Charles W. French and Sons.
