Description

Eliphalet Greely, 1784-1858 was a sea captain, businessman, bank president, state bank commissioner, member of the Maine Legislature and mayor of Portland. He founded Greely Institute in Cumberland.

This portrait hung on the wall of the main room on the first floor when Greely Institute opened on September 28, 1868.
