Note by Elizabeth Wadsworth about the lock of George Washington's hair, ca. 1802

Description

This note by Elizabeth Wadsworth, written about 1802, gives the lock of George Washington's hair to her sister, Zilpah, in order to pass it along either to the Museum at Bowdoin College, or to the State of Maine. Elizabeth sought a memento of Washington after his death and received the lock of hair.
