This letter written on Martha Washington's behalf by her secretary, Tobias Lear, on April 5, 1800 encloses a lock of George Washington's hair as a response of the request by Elizabeth Wadsworth, Peleg Wadsworth's daughter. This is one of a series of letters about Elizabeth's desire to obtain a lock of George Washington's hair.
