Description

This image shows the Big Barn after it was relocated from south of present day Cranberry Lodge, across the street and northwest to Asticou Way. This barn, originally built by A.C. and Emily Savage and part of Harbor Cottage was moved around 1901 after the first Asticou Inn burned. It was then owned by their son John C. Savage, and later by Richard, Mary and Ralph Savage and used as a base of operations for Richard & Ralph's summer taxi and automobile service and storage business, Asticou Garage. The barn was torn down in 1939 and its lumber used to assemble a more modern garage for the Asticou Garage and Savage Taxi businesses.
