Tuscan Opera House Stage, Right Backboard, Dixfield, ca. 1955
This is a photograph of a roughly framed portion of the right backwall graffiti on the stage at Dixfield's Tuscan Opera House. Most evident are the remnants of the senior class plays of the 1950s and 60s. The Opera House was used for numerous community events and productions from 1871-1970 and especially by the schools as Dixfield had no auditorium space before the 1970s.
The Odd Fellows ( I.O.O.F.) constructed the building in 1891, and it was used by the community until it was sold for commercial purposes in 1970s. In 2013, the building is still standing but unused.
