Victoria Mansion, Portland, ca. 1900
Located on 109 Danforth Street, the Victoria mansion was built from 1859-1863 as a summer home for Ruggles Sylvester Morse. This brown-stone Italian villa is one of the finest surviving examples of high Victorian architecture, in Portland. It is a registered National Historic Landmark, and now operates as a house museum that is open to visitors May through October and then again for the holiday season. The building is also known as the Morse-Libby House.
