Lyon’s Grocery, West Lubec, 1992, 1992

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

Description

This building was about sixty years old when photographed in May or June of 1992. It was located on the north side of Route 189, it originally served as the golf club for Raynold Finnegan’s five hole golf course on the south side of the road. Finnegan ran it a few years and then left for New Hampshire.

Walter Small then opened a small country store here, passing through several owners until it was sold to grocer Steve Lyons in 1990. Lyons began building a much larger structure behind this building and upon completion of the new building, this building was torn down. The area where it once stood became the parking lot in front of Lyons' IGA.
