Description
One of the larger attachments to the narrow gauge engine was the snow plow. This piece of equipment became very necessary to the trains movement through snow storms.
A diary kept be Alvin Gray, a long time Monson resident, reported of two serious incidences during large snowstorms. On February 26, 1887- "6 degrees below zero. The train returning from the Junction last night was snowbound at Day's Crossing where it remained with passengers all night." March 16, 1918 - "6:00 P.M. train stalled in snow drift one mile from destination. The next morning the passengers walked to the Junction."
