This photo shows brother and sister Ethlyn and Cleon Adams Jr. snowshoeing at the family homestead on Dixfield Common in 1937. Dixfield Common was the center of Dixfield from its founding as Holmantown in 1796 until its incorporation as Dixfield in 1803. The Common is still home to farms and rural living in 2013.

Ethelyn and Cleon Adams Jr. are Holman desendants. The homestead was originally built by Jonathan Holman, son of Col. Jonathan Holman the founder of Holmantown.
