Description

Granville M. Baker of Sanford was 28 when he enlisted as a private in Co. D of the 20th Maine Infantry Regiment on August 29, 1862.

He was a hospital steward and was promoted to full assistant surgeon on April 5, 1863. He was mustered out on June 4, 1865.

Baker was a teacher before the Civil War. Afterwards, he was a druggist in Brooklyn, New York.
