Contributed by Town of Topsham

Description

This 1st prize clock trophy was awarded to the Androscoggin No. 2 hand engine company for winning the fire muster competition in Gardiner on August 26, 1886. Muster competitions pitted one company's hand engine against another to see which could spray water the farthest. The Androscoggin won the Gardiner muster with a "play" (a stream of water) of 211 feet, 3 inches. The engine foreman that day was Frank Berry. The pipemen were Cyrus Keay and Fred Atkinson.

The tag on the clock is the original notation for the award.
