Shown in this postcard is the Coburn Steamboat Company Boat Landing at Greenville Junction on Moosehead Lake where the steamers of the Coburn Steamboat Company met trains of the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad around 1900. Three steamboats are docked in this image and one steamer is shown leaving with a full head of steam.
The steamers were used for transporting passengers, freight and the mail to various locations, including Mount Kineo, on Moosehead Lake. As roads improved and automobiles became more numerous, the Coburn fleet gradually declined. The company's last advertisement in the Bangor & Aroostook publication appeared in 1937.
