Carnegie letter establishing library gift, Rumford, 1903

Description

Andrew Carnegie's private secretary wrote this letter on January 22, 1903, to attorney Payson Smith, who was representing the Town of Rumford. The letter acknowledges Mr. Carnegie's willingness to provide a $10,000 gift to construct a free public library for the town.
