James L. Hunt on changing jobs, Newburyport, 1845
James L. Hunt wrote in mid November 1845 to his parents, Joseph O. and Roxana B. Hunt of Bath, about leaving his job at Russell & Walker in Newburyport and taking a job in Portsmouth -- where he would either work by the job or do something he had no skill at.
Hunt had left Bath in the summer of 1845 looking for a position. He started working at the foundry in Newburyport in July.
Hunt also wrote in a sentimental fashion about missing his family, imaging his father on his way to Sunday meeting and imagining smelling his mother's baked beans -- and his mouth watering.
