Description
William M. Spinney of Freedom wrote to Joseph A. Hunt of Bath, whom he addressed as "brother," to tell him of the death of his "companion." Hunt was Spinney's brother-in-law. The companion to whom Spinney referred was his wife, Margery E. Spinney, who died Feb. 4, 1842 at age 35. Capt. William Spinney died in 1857 at age 54. Spinney wrote, "her suferings was grate but she had her sences tell the last moment. she died hapy in the lord." He gave details of the funeral service and added, "I should be glad to rite more but my fealings are such at the present that I cant rite so I must close by requesting a interest in the prayers of all my friends that god may suplant me in this trying sean."
