Description
This photograph, from January 12, 1961, shows work underway on the fill for the approach to the new Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial bridge. It was taken 19 months before the grand opening.
The Roosevelt Memorial Bridge is unique in that it is international, connecting the United States to Canada via Lubec to Campobello Island in New Brunswick, and that it is the only road connection that the island has to the mainland.
