'Bowdoin' beached for repairs, 1947

Contributed by Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum and Arctic Studies Center

On any long voyage, repairs are sometimes needed. Here the Bowdoin has been taken into shore at low tide and careened. A dory floats at her stern so that the propeller can be fixed.

The schooner was designed for and captained by Arctic explorer Donald MacMillan.
