Description

The Ferris wheel near Hartwell's Landing on Pleasant Lake was homemade, but functional. The ingenious contraption was powered by one person, hand cranking a fly-wheel that was connected to a series of pulleys and flat belts.

Shown enjoying the ride are members of the Hartwell and Allen families. Note the 36-star flag hanging from the structure.
