Canadian racer Jim Hunter is pictured here with a fan at the 1971 World Cup at Sugarloaf.

Jim Hunter, nicknamed "Jungle Jim" was on the World Cup circuit for 7 years. He competed in the 1972 and 76 Olympics. He was the first Canadian ski racer to win a medal in the World Championships of ski racing. That was in 1972. He also placed in the top 3 at two world cups.

Upon retiring from the Canadian Ski Team in 1977, he joined the Pro Ski Racing circuit. He won the first ever Downhill event on the Pro Tour.

At Sugarloaf he placed 35th in the Kandahar Downhill, 14th in the Tall Timber Downhill and disqualified in the Giant Slalom race. He currently hosts the Jungle Jim Hunter show on Canadian radio, which is a 2 hour Winter sports show.
