Since this event was an international one, the press coverage was quite extensive. Luce and Baxter are looking up to the Narrow Gauge which was the ski trail to be used for the races.
Harry Baxter was the General Manager of Sugarloaf and Jean Luce was a member of the Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Club. As of 2012 Luce is still a member of the Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Club and she is also a member of the Maine Ski Hall of Fame Class of 2004. Luce's vast experience with organizing ski races, resulted in her being chosen to be the race secretary for the World Cup races at Sugarloaf. her husband Norton, not pictured, was the Chief of Race.
