Gen. Banks telegram on Confederates loss of boat, Louisiana, 1863

Gen. Nathaniel P. Banks, commander of the Department of the Gulf, sent a telegram to Gen. George F. Shepley, military governor of Louisiana, reporting on the 19th Army Corps' success near New Iberia, Louisiana.
Banks wrote that Union forces "having pressed the enemy so hard that they have been obliged to destroy the gunboat Hart, iron clad, & the best boat they had."
