Description

This moose was known as "Joe Pete." He was named by warden William R. French. The photographer was George W. French, a native of Kezar Falls who worked for the Maine Development Commission from 1936-1955 taking photographs to promote tourism.

The moose could be seen grazing with cows around Speckled Mountain near Lovell and Stoneham. From 1934-1939 large crowds gathered to see the spectacle.
