John Campbell, serving at Fort George in June 22, 1781, wrote to his commander, Sir Henry Clinton, about the disposition of the British troops under his command, and the escape of American General Peleg Wadsworth from imprisonment. The letter is a transcribed copy from the original, which is at the Public Records Office and Royal Institution of Great Britain. Joseph Williamson of Belfast, Maine, had documents relating to the Penobscot Expedition transcribed between 1894 and 1902.
