This dispatch concerns the sending of British troops to the Penobscot River in order to protect British interests from the colonists there and to erect Fort George.
The letter is a transcribed copy made between 1894 and 1902 from British archival collections for Joseph Williamson, a lawyer and historian in Belfast.
