Description

A Maine Anti-Slavery Society report dated October 27, 1836 describes the group's request for protection during their next meeting in Portland.

The report recounts Mayor Levi Cutter's response including his opinion that the Society would be attacked, and a constable's presence would only create more trouble for the Society.
