This image shows George Washington being carried up to heaven by angels. Americans held George Washington in great reverence and after his death in 1799 many commemorative works of art were created showing that sentiment.<BR><BR>This engraving can also be seen at the Wadsworth-Longfellow House in Portland, Maine.
