In this letter David Brown, Draft Orderly Sergeant, answers the letter that he received from Adjutant General Hodsdon, in regards to the improprieties in the draft that was called in Sebago in Sept 1862. He defends his actions saying, "I write this to explain why I done what I did just to evade a cession Riot!!!"
