Description
The oil painting, Edward H. Crockett, shows the launching of this Liberty ship with the help of a tugboat. The Portland skyline is visible in the background. Paul Murray used a newspaper photograph as the model for the painting of the Edward H. Crockett,, which was built in South Portland. Murray painted as a hobby. The ship, named for a war correspondent, was delivered in January 1944 and lost off Russia in September 1944.
